With every summer, there’s a buzz over the best talent of football transfers, and this summer, one name in particular has been hot in the transfer markets: Rodrygo. The Brazilian forward is a reported target for future transfer window for Arsenal, who they are apparently looking to bolster their initial attack. The question is, however, will Mikel Arteta be able to guide Rodrygo to the Emirates with its undeniable talent and its growing reputation at Real Madrid.
Why Rodrygo is on Arsenal’s Radar
Rodrygo has risen to become one of the most discussed around forwards in world football. Since moving from Real Madrid in 2019 he has been picking up trophies left right and centre – three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. Team mates, like Jude Bellingham, have however not gone unnoticed in the talents that he possesses on the field, with the latter describing him as ‘the most talented and gifted player in the group.’ It’s obvious the Brazilian is in top form with 12 goals and 9 assists this season in 34 appearances.
Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal’s manager, wants to have Rodrygo in his attacking lineup. With his versatility, pace and an eye for goal, he is a perfect fitting for the Gallic Gunners’ brand of play. According to Arteta, Rodrygo could just be the necessary piece Arsenal require to propel their attack and push to competitive honors.
Real Madrid’s Stance on Selling him
But it will not be an easy task to convince Real Madrid to let one of their most promising players leave. But reports suggest the departure of Rodrygo, which does look ‘unlikely’ unless Arsenal comes up with an irresistible offer. We’re talking big numbers here, around €100 million (£82.7 million) for what is, in all fairness to a still young, unproven player about to break into the world of football, a reasonable price to ask of any club, let alone one that is one of the biggest in Europe.
It does make sense for Real Madrid to be reluctant to sell. They’ve committed heavily to Rodrygo and he is only going to get more valuable the more he becomes one of the world’s top forwards. The fact that they aren’t likely to let go of a player so full of potential with such sights set on more trophies is not a decision that is undermined lightly.
