Real Madrid are keen to extend the contract with Rodrygo. This news comes amidst suggestions that the striker could sign for Liverpool this summer.
AS has reported that Real Madrid have offered him a contract extension for 5 years with an option to extend for an additional year. The report also states that the release clause is worth a whooping €1bn.
Real Madrid are looking to extend the contract of Rodrygo Goes amidst interest from Liverpool
Rodrygo was introduced to the squad in a measured and controlled manner last season. His minutes increased step by step with every match. Now, once he signs the deal, he will be getting more minutes with the first team.
Rodrygo has won two La Liga titles with Los Blancos. He has also won one Champions League with the club last season. The Brazilian was instrumental in Real Madrid’s Europe campaign. He scored two crucial goals against Manchester City in the semi-finals. The two Rodrygo goals helped Los Blancos to defeat City and book their berth for the final. Rodrygo also played the final minute of the Champions League final against Liverpool.
It seems Real Madrid are intent on keeping the core of their double-winning side intact. Eden Hazard is staying at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer despite his poor form and injury struggles. Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr are also staying at the club. Fellow Brazilians Eder Militao and Vinicius Jr will also apparently sign new deals with the club this summer.
Real Madrid have further solidified their defense by signing Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea. They have also given their midfield some serious depth by signing Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco. Los Blancos will begin their 2022-23 La Liga campaign and title defense against Almeria on August 13.
