Everyone had their eyes and hope open for Virat Kohli in the mega clash. India and Pakistan played against each other in their season opener in Dubai. The pace bowling attack of India, bundled out Pakistan for merely 147 runs. However, the so-called easy run chase turned really tricky when India lost 5 wickets.

The man who was playing his 100th T20I made an early appearance in the middle. Naseem Shah who made his debut in the match knocked off KL Rahul, in the first over itself. Although this wicket brought sadness to the Indian Camp, people were also seen happy since this marked Kohli’s arrival. The viewers were more excited because King Kohli made his appearance in blue after a very long gap. However, Kohli again repeated his old mistake and played a ball that nearly sent him back to the pavilion. However, the ace batter survived and managed to play some good shots afterward.

Legend’s say on India’s performance

Although, the Indian team won the match. The former batter and captain Sunil Gavaskar didn’t quite like the team selection. While expressing his disagreement he said

“Rahul played just one ball, so you can’t judge anything from that. Rohit and Kohli had the opportunity to bat for some time, they got runs. All these earlier times when people were talking about Kohli’s form, I kept on saying that he is not having any luck. Today, he had a lot of luck, drop catches, and a lot of inside edges, which went so close to the stumps, he had the luck. But he did capitalize on it and played some very fine shots, But one had expected that with the kind of start that he had, he should have got around 60-70. He got out immediately after Rohit got out. Both got out to forgettable shots. At that stage, those shots were not necessary as the asking rate wasn’t 19 or 20 for them to attempt sixes at that stage.”

Although the top batters couldn’t make an impact on the game by their batting. It was Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya who took India to a massive win.
