AS Roma are interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah the next time the transfer window opens in January. According to the tweet by Rudy Galetti, AS Roma will start talks with the agents of Chalobah in the months ahead. Moreover, Roma will also start talks with the agents of Victor Lindelof, and Japhet Tanganga as well. Roma boss Jose Mourinho is very keen on signing one of the center-backs.

The 23-year-old had his breakthrough season under Thomas Tuchel in the 2020 season. He has had 20 appearances in the Chelsea jersey last season in the Premier League. However, all of that happened under Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by the club. Chalobah will have to prove himself and again under Graham Potter and earn his place in the team. The arrival of defensive reinforcements, particularly Wesely Fofana has hampered Chalobah’s playing time at Chelsea. He has till November to prove his worth to the new coach. If that doesn’t happen then it is most likely that Chalobah will look for a move elsewhere.

Chelsea will not let Chalobah leave permanently

According to a report by Football Transfers, Jose Mourinho is keen to bring Chalobah to Roma. However, Chelsea are reluctant to let a talented player such as Chalobah go. Hence, a loan is the best option for the player to get some game time. Chalobah will go out on a loan if and only if he fails to impress the new manager. Inter and AC Milan had both expressed an interest in signing the player during the recent transfer market. Also, according to multiple reports, Aston Villa were interested in singing Chalobah this summer. However, he chose to stay at Chelsea to fight for his place. Only time will tell if he is successful in carving out a place for himself in the squad.
