Roy Hodgson reacts on a possible pursuit for Manchester City star in January

Manchester City

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson responds to the questions about links with Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips. Hodgson did not rule out the possibility to sign the City star. The 76-year old made his comments while addressing a press conference on Tuesday. Therefore, a new turn in the transfer of Etihad’s no.4 can be possible. He said,

“Yeah, he’s a good player. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a name that’s out there (for us). All we know is that there is a possibility that Man City will either sell him or loan him.

If they are purely going to sell him, then I don’t think we will be in the market. If they’re going to loan him, I would like to think that we could possibly put our hand up and push ourselves forward.

According to reports, City may ask for £7m transfer fee to let the midfielder leave with a buy option. Moreover, ESPN adds that Newcastle and Juventus have already been put off by the demands. It initially suggested that Phillips can be staying with his club for a but longer. However, the Eagles boss’ comments now arise a possibility for a move. Sami Mokbel, chief football reporter of Daily Mail reports that,

What I think will happen eventually with Kalvin Phillips is that the big clubs – like Tottenham – who have looked at it, thought about it and maybe thought, no, probably not for us, they will then move on and a lower level of club.”
