Manchester United’s youngster Harry Amass was incredibly good on the weekend and has got top words from Ruben Amorim.
Ruben Amorim is impressed by Utd’s new left-back Amass
Harry Amass, the young Manchester United defender, made quite an impression in his first start against Newcastle on Sunday.
Most of the Red Devils’ fans knew Amass could start to gain some valuable experience with the first-team. But, his debut in a 2-0 win over Leicester was something special. A senior-sub to a starter at St. James’ Park against a physically demanding Newcastle side was going to be much tougher test.
The 18-year-old left-back did good job in defending Jacob Murphy and Kieran Trippier attacking down his side as well. He ultimately played well and seemed to compose himself. As all of the physicality took a toll in the football game.
The young defender won every one of his aerial duels when he was called on to compete for possession. He landed 31 touches while completing eleven (11) passing transitions with focus on the backline.
He handled the atmosphere and that he was under pressure in a football match leading 2-1. And he had to be tough against the big Newcastle side.
His every step of the way had some support from teammates. But most importantly he never looked too far out of place in his manager’s thoughts.
Utd Puts Trust in the young LB After Ten Hag’s Initial Snub
The Portuguese gaffer has been making changes at United. He was impressed by the left-back after the game. This praise comes after Harry had been overlooked by Erik ten Hag earlier in the season. Although, he had a solid pre-season tour in the United States.
Even with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia unavailable due to injury, he was not given a chance. And it seemed like a loan move might be on the cards in January transfer window.
But, a decision was made to keep him at United for the rest of the campaign. And now that effort is giving results. After his impressive performance, Amass will look to continue earning the trust of Amorim. And he will surely make his mark in United’s first team.
