Chelsea left to rue big time as summer transfer target continues to shine after the failed move

Samu Omorodion has been on fire lately. The 20-year-old is quickly turning heads with his performance. He came quite close to joining Chelsea this summer. Connor Gallagher was leaving to sign for Atletico Madrid. As a result, the Blues were willing to sign the striker in exchange. The Spanish side were also okay with the terms and conditions. A move was just on the horizon. But, the transfer would break down in its ultimate stages. As a result, the 20-year-old ended up joining Porto instead. But, he is doing a stellar job so far. The striker has begun this season very strongly. At the same time, he continues to prove himself lethal in front of goal.

Why did Samu Omorodion fail to join Chelsea?

The move was all set and done. Both the clubs were in agreement of the transfer terms. In fact, a medical was all that was remaining. But, that’s where things began going south. The 20-year-old would fail his medical due to an ankle injury. As a result, Chelsea could not proceed with Samu Omorodion move. So, the striker had to look for other options. Meanwhile, Chelsea were without a new striker this summer. But, it all worked out in the end. On the one hand, the 20-year-old is on fire for club and country. On the other, the Blues have Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku playing in great form.

A remorseful decision?

Chelsea will be ruing their choice not to be able to complete a move for the star striker. Especially, given the form that he has been in as of late. As per goal, Samu Omorodion managed to score a 4-goal haul for Spain U21 against Malta. At the same time, he managed to do so inside the first 45. But, the Blues can be content with one thing though. Their scouting system looks to be working great. They were able to find such a young and talented striker before any other team. They were able to see his potential when no one could. So, things could be heading in the right direction for the Blues.
