Saudi Club Al-Ahli walked away from Osimhen deal

Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, was the focal point of this transfer window because clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal were trying to sign him. None of them succeeded in buying him because of the astronomical transfer fee and unexpected wage demands.

A few days before the deadline day, Saudi club, Al- Ahli were interested in buying the Nigerian forward. They were prepared to pay the entire €160 million transfer fee in 4-year installments. It was agreed that they would pay €40m each year. According to Goal, Napoli wanted an extra €5m from the Saudi side. This caused the Saudi side to pull out of the deal.

Chelsea tried every possible way to lure the forward to Stamford Bridge. They also offered a loan deal to Osimhen, but the player was not ready to accept it.

Osimhen Transfer Saga

There was a massive tussle between Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal for Victor Osimhen. Previously, Osimhen agreed on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but Napoli didn’t want to sell him to the Ligue 1 side. Napoli did this because they wanted to buy Chelsea’s striker, Romelu Lukaku.

At the end, none of them were able to sign the talented forward. Although Al-Ahli offered a perfect deal to Napoli, the deal could not happen due to some technical issues and negotiation issues.

Stories behind the scene

This summer transfer window has ended in Europe. Chelsea and Al-Ahli were the two clubs who came close to landing Victor Osimhen. When Chelsea representatives were negotiating the personal terms with the player, he demanded a higher wage, which led to disparity between the two sides. Therefore, Chelsea walked away from this deal.

Later, it was being said that Al-Ahli were negotiating with Napoli for the Nigerian forward. This time, Napoli chose to play the hard ball with the Saudi club. They demanded extra transfer fees when everything was fixed among the two clubs. This led to the collapse of the Osimhen deal.

Current situation

At this moment, Victor Osimhen hasn’t been able to find a new club. He seemed to be stuck with the Partenopei. It is being said that the relationship between Napoli and Osimhen has broken. A few months ago, the Nigerian forward agreed to leave the club on a mutual agreement.

Although the Saudi transfer window is open till the end of September, it is certain that Al Ahli will not come for Osimhen. Multiple media sources are claiming that the forward can end up joining the Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan. The two clubs have agreed this loan deal.

If this loan move also fails, there will be no option for Victor rather than waiting for the next transfer window. At this moment, Antonio Conte is satisfied with the new Napoli striker, Romelu Lukaku. So, there are fewer chances that Osimhen will touch the ball in Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Arsenal were willing to pay £84.9 million for the Napoli striker. Although this transfer fee is less than the release clause for Osimhen, this deal was not about money. Chelsea and Napoli were in search of perfect number nines. There was no doubt that new Napoli boss Antonio Conte wanted Romelu Lukaku. On the other hand, Chelsea needed a proper goal-scoring number nine.

It was being said that Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna flew to London to wrap up the deal between Osimhen and Chelsea. On top of that, both clubs agreed to a deal for Romelu Lukaku. Seeing such strong communications going on between Chelsea and Napoli, Arsenal have decided not to get involved in this transfer saga.
