Newcastle paved the way for Tottenham as they beat Arsenal in their last Premier League outing.

Arsenal’s loss to Newcastle means that Tottenham now have it easy to secure the fourth place.

However, a week ago the Gunners looked like the most prominent side to finish fourth this season. A fourth-place finish also means a Champion League berth next season.

However, losses to both Spurs and Newcastle meant that they lagged in the fourth-place race.

Moreover, now they have to depend on relegated Norwich to come to their rescue and defeat Spurs on the final day.

This result for Newcastle was important as it showed how much they have come after Eddie Howe took over the club.

When Howe took over from Steve Bruce in November 2021, Newcastle was reeling at the 19th position. They were only five points off from the relegation zone.

Come May 2022, the Magpies are well settled at 12th place. Moreover, they could also enjoy a top-half finish if results go their way on the final day.

Newcastle now have seven wins from their last eight home games. Their only loss was to Liverpool.

Despite, Howe’s success with the Magpies, club authorities are still considering replacing him.

Marca via The Express reports, that Newcastle will make a bid to acquire Jose Mourinho and bring him back to the Premier League.

How successful would Mourinho be in this Premier League club?

The Portuguese is well acquainted with English football. He has spent many a season with top-flight clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League.

Moreover, he has many trophies with the United and Chelsea.

Mourinho is currently in charge of the Serie A side AS Roma. There he is bidding for his first title with the club when Roma plays Feyenoord in the Conference League final.

Reports say, that Mourinho could be on his way to England where Newcastle plans on taking the lead to next level.

Authorities at the club are worried that though Howe has given everything to the team, he has not been proven a match-winner.

Mourinho has a reputation for being a match-winner. Therefore, it remains to be seen how Mourinho performs in this new team.
