T20 World Cup: Hardik Pandya looked unwell against Pakistan

Women's Cricket

Before the T20 World Cup 2021 began, there was a lot of conjecture about Hardik Pandya‘s injuries and health, and now that the tournament has begun, there are more questions than answers. It has nothing to do with the fact that this side lacks an all-rounder capable of filling in as the sixth bowler. But it also has to do with how Pandya was handled.

Pandya was at the crease for eight balls with the bat against Pakistan, but there was a concern with his shoulder while he was there. He didn’t appear to be in the best of health. What’s more worrying is the fact that the Baroda player did not return to the field in the second innings.

While Pakistan was batting in the first match of the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya appeared ill and did not even come on the field. Hardik Pandya’s injury has gotten a lot of attention because he hasn’t bowled in over a year. People are raising various concerns about his role as a finisher in the T20 squad.

T20 World Cup: Hardik have more on him than what he can pull right now

When it comes to Pandya’s injury, the storey is far from over. He was expected to bowl ahead of the second leg of the IPL 2021, having done so for India in white-ball cricket from 2021 till then. However, when he arrived in the UAE for the second leg, he was injured. The National Cricket Academy hasn’t given him enough clearances on his fitness levels.

For the time being, sticking with Pandya makes no sense. India may employ him later in the knockout stage, when it is a do-or-die situation.

However, he will require at least two weeks of rest following the clash with Pakistan. It’s not just his fitness that’s causing his toes to sag on the pitch. But Hardik’s batting has been a source of concern too. And he is unable of shouldering the responsibilities that Team India requires of him.
