The advantage Nico Rosberg feels Verstappen has over him

Nico Rosberg compared his title fight with Lewis Hamilton in 2016 to Max Verstappen’s in 2021.

Nico Rosberg has had his fair share of fierce battles with Lewis Hamilton.

Similarly, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton shared an immense battle fighting for the 2021 world title. The end of the 2021 season might have come in a rather controversial manner but the season remains one of the best we have witnessed in recent times.

Regardless, Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate and title rival Nico Rosberg has his views comparing his fight to Verstappen’s. The German driver snatched the 2016 title from his British counterpart after losing out in 2014 and 2015. After finally defeating Hamilton in equal machinery, Rosberg hanged his helmet a few days later. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff also felt that two teammates fighting each other at such a level were not beneficial to the team anymore.

Rosberg thinks that Verstappen has an advantage when it comes to fighting for the titles or the race wins as he doesn’t have a figure like Lewis Hamilton as his teammate.

“The whole team had to maintain a neutral attitude between Lewis and I,”

Rosberg explained to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“There was a strange atmosphere within the team because it was clear that there was rivalry within our own garage.”

“As a result, there was a spirit within the team without balance – and that made it difficult to get closer together.”

“I was in isolation at the most important point of my career.”

“It should be easier for Verstappen – because he is seen as the number one driver by everyone.

“There is a calmer atmosphere at Red Bull,”

added Rosberg.
