The Ricky Ponting effect in the making of Axar Patel

tennis player

Axar Patel was added to the Indian squad for the Asia Cup and the upcoming World Cup. He replaced the injured Ravindra Jadeja in the squad. Axar has a large void to fill in Jadeja‘s absence. But he impressed everyone in the recently concluded T20 series against Australia.
Axar was deadly accurate with the ball. He bowled crucial overs in the powerplay as well as middle overs and at the death. The left arm smartly varied his pace and outfoxed the batsmen. He was very economical and hardly gave away any runs. Due to his heroics with the ball, he was awarded the player of the series award.
Patel has made the Indian team after outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is known as a bowling all-rounder who has considerably improved his batting abilities in order to reach the Indian T20 World Cup team.
In a video posted to bcci.tv, the 28-year-old praised his IPL 2022 stint with Delhi Capitals under head coach Ricky Ponting for his batting growth. He said that Ponting had singled him out as the team’s finisher, prompting him to improve his hitting in the nets.
“Once that task was assigned to me, I began working harder in the nets to prepare for the position.” I began to consider what I needed to do to be successful in the role. When you finish a few games, your confidence grows. “I believe that confidence is what is helping my batting,” he remarked.
Patel, in particular, struck an unbeaten 64 off 35 balls in the second ODI in the West Indies in July. His quick-fire batting helped India win the game. In IPL 2022, the left-handed hitter hit 182 runs at a strike rate of 151.67.
