Chelsea are set to offload some of their players before the end of this summer transfer window. The transfer market will close at the end of this month. So, the Blues want to make sure that they are able to sell all the players, who are not needed anymore by the club. Star midfielder and last season’s Chelsea captain Conor Gallagher and Atletico Madrid have agreed on an offer. But not just Conor Gallagher, more high-profile players could leave Enzo Maresca’s side.

According to the report of Capology, Chelsea’s top five highest wage earners are Romelu Lukaku, Raheem Sterling, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Ben Chilwell. Among these five players, three players could leave the Blues this summer including Romelu Lukaku, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku is linked with Italian giants Napoli after Chelsea showed no intention of keeping the Belgian international. In the past two seasons, the 31-year-old was on two different loan spells with Inter Milan and As Roma respectively. Lukaku had a good season with As Roma last season, scoring 21 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

However, despite his brilliant performance in the last season, Enzo Maresca’s side has no intention of keeping him in the squad. Italian giants Napoli are considering Romelu Lukaku as their primary option for the number nine position to replace Victor Osimhen. Chelsea are still interested in signing Victor Osimhen, which could open the door for Lukaku to join the Italian side. With just 9 days to go, anything could happen with the Romelu Lukaku’s move to Napoli.

Ben Chilwell

Coming to the second player that could leave the Blues before the end of the transfer window. And he is none other than Chelsea defender and English international Ben Chilwell. Since Enzo Maresca took the hot seat of the Chelsea team, the English international is feeling some kind of left out due to insufficient playing time. Enzo Maresca only used Chilwell twice out of six matches in the pre-season and both of them as a substitute player. Even Maresca gave his statement about the future of Ben Chilwell and also said that he had very little interest in working with the former Leicester City man. So, a new move to any club will be better for the English international, and that could help him to get more playing time.

Raheem Sterling

And, finally, we have Raheem Sterling, who could also leave the club before the end of this summer transfer window. In the last two seasons, the former Liverpool man made 81 appearances, scored 19 goals, and bagged 12 assists. However, as new players are coming in Sterling is facing uncertainty with his future. The 29-year-old was not in the squad for Chelsea in the match against Manchester City. As Joao Felix is about to join the Blues, the need for Sterling in the Chelsea squad looks very dim. Now the question is which club Raheem Sterling will choose if he leaves Chelsea this summer? As the transfer deadline is approaching, the former Manchester City man has to make a decision very fast.

More Chelsea stories

Let’s have a quick look into more Chelsea stories. First of all, as things stand, the Blues are very close to making Joao Felix’s move happen and that means Conor Gallagher will join Atletico Madrid within a few more days. Felix’s deal will be the final signing for Enzo Maresca’s side in this summer transfer window.

Manchester City, the defending Premier League champions beat Chelsea by 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. This is Chelsea’s third loss in the last five matches under Enzo Maresca. Now the Blues will meet Wolves away from home for their next Premier League fixtures. But before that Chelsea will start their UEFA Conference League campaign on August 23.
