Todd Boehly signed a young player who might end up being Chelsea’s future Ballon d’Or winner. Over the next ten years, one of the numerous young players Chelsea signed could very well emerge as one of the greatest players in the world.

Todd Boehly has signed a number of South American wonderkids as a result of his emphasis on signing players with high potential. Those who came after Andrey Santos were Angelo Gabriel, Deivid Washington, and Kendry Paez.

Although Paez, 16, is not yet formally a Chelsea player, he and the Blues have an agreement for him to join the club in May 2025, when he turns 18. The imaginative Ecuadorian midfielder, who can also play forward costed just over £17 million.

Paez has a ceiling that is incredibly high. The left-footer has already earned five caps for his nation and has set a number of amazing records.

Chelsea are ready to spend big money on the youngstar

Last year, at the age of 16 years and 161 days, Paez scored for Ecuador against Bolivia in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier, making history as the youngest player to do so.

That comes after, at the age of 15, he made his professional debut and scored the most goals in the Ecuadorian top division, making history.

The teenage midfielder for Independiente del Valle has now been crowned Ecuador’s best offensive midfielder and best young player. Additionally, he was recognized by being named to the Ecuadorian Serie A, or Liga Pro, team of the year.

Paez’s agent, Manuel Sierra, is full of confidence in the player. He told AS last week:

I don’t know if we are going to have such a beastly talent in my life again like Kendry Paez. Today he is still at 50 per cent of his chances, 60 per cent of his chances. He is a guy who can be, for me

If not Ballon d’Or, be very close to being Ballon d’Or in the next, six, seven or eight years.
