Arsenal has its share of prestige and history. Many iconic moments and memories have been a part of the North London team. Unfortunately, not everyone has a good taste. So, we will today discuss the top 5 worst Arsenal managers of all time.
LIST OF THE WORST ARSENAL MANAGERS
- Bruce Rioch (1995 โ 1996): His time seems to be a massive flop for the club. He stayed at the club for only one year, also as a substitute. The only good thing he ever did was sign Denis Bergkamp to the squad.
- Terry Neill (1976 โ 1983): Neill started well by guiding the team to the FA Cup final for three consecutive years. However, Neillโs management can be considered ineffective overall. So, he could not find a way of being consistent in the league. This resulted in a big problem as Arsenal always finished mid-table even when they had a strong squad.
- Unai Emery (2018 โ 2019): With a lot of pressure and carrying the torch of Wenger, Emery entered the Emirates. Unfortunately, it was too much of a pressure for Emary. Despite taking Arsenal to the Europa final, it was not enough for the team.
- Billy Wright (1962 โ 1966): Probably the worst manager to exist in Arsenal’s dark chapters. He was named the manager in 1962 and Wright had a hard time coping with the responsibilities of a top-level manager. His tactics were horrendous, overall resulting in a bad formation team.
- Stewart Houston (1995): Stewart Houstonโs moments as the Gunners’ manager came during a depression period for the club. He took over the manager role when George Graham was dismissed. Unfortunately, Houston tried to build the team temporarily but failed. His lack of experience as a head coach was evident, and the teamโs performances were inconsistent.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
So, we can see that Arsenal has been through problems in their lifetime. After Wenger, it has always been a problem for the Gunners.
While there have been unique challenges during their tenure.
Overall, their struggles underscore the importance of leadership, vision, and adaptability in achieving success at the highest level.
Arsenal fans will hope that future appointments avoid the pitfalls experienced during these less successful periods in the clubโs history.
Presently, Arteta has taken over the management of the team. Considerably, he has made the team many times better than they were in the previous few seasons. Instead, they still need to improve their overall winning mentality.
Arteta might not be able to win the Premier League but still won a Carabao Cup in the Emirates stadium since 1993.
Personally, it would be interesting to see Arteta recover. Only if they turn more matches towards themselves, they can win. They still need to recover from the bottling jobs they did for two consecutive years.
Now that they are doing well, the Gunners have to ensure that they don’t need to sack Arteta anymore.
Overall, Arsenal has a life of ups and downs. It is all about time that they win a silverware this season or not.
