Toto Wolff claims a new F1 deal will only take a ‘few hours physically’ with Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is looking for an extension with his current team Mercedes as Toto Wolff updates on the deal.

Last year, Lewis Hamilton expressed his desire to continue driving in F1. This made it clear that the Briton wanted to extend his contract with Mercedes. The current deal with Hamilton ends at the end of this year.

During the United States GP, Hamilton told the media:

“We are going to do another deal.”

“We’re going to sit down and we’re going to discuss it in these next couple of months, I would say.”

Wolff clears things can get going anytime with Hamilton

Although Lewis Hamilton has not talked about the extension formally yet, Toto Wolff clarified that any talks wouldn’t take long to bind up:

“We have a full year to go,”

said Wolff.

“We’re so aligned.”

“In the last 10 years our relationship has grown that it’s just a matter of him physically being back in Europe, sticking our heads together, wrestling a bit and then leaving the room with white smoke after a few hours.”

The contract more likely seems to be for two more years. Hamilton has clarified that he has no plans to stop just now:

“I’m not putting a limit on it, to be honest,”

Hamilton said in Mexico last year.

“I’m planning to do a multi-year deal with my team. I really, really don’t know what the next five years [hold], I think we’re still trying to work on that.”

“There’s a lot of great things that are being put in place, like I’ve just launched a [film] production company this week. But I feel great, like in mind and body.”

“I think there’s more stuff to achieve together. I just don’t know [how long].”

Mercedes will be looking to make a comeback after a rather disappointing season. Hamilton will also be looking to make a strong statement after losing out to his teammate last year.
