Tottenham, Aston Villa interested in Julian Alvarez

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are set to battle it out for the pursuit of Julian Alvarez in January.  European clubs are on high alert as they closely monitor the situation of Julian Alvarez.

The highly-rated River Plate forward is facing an uncertain future at the club. And is expected to leave in the upcoming January transfer window. Alvarez’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2022 season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are the two English clubs chasing his signature. But they are set to face stiff competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund among many others.

The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in his homeland. Contributing seven goals and four assists from just 11 league games this season. In the last two years, he has gone on to make 85 appearances in all competitions. And has racked up 23 goals, and provided a further 23 assists in the same period.

While Fabio Paratici did recruit smartly in the summer. And Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a new striker who can prove to be an ideal replacement for Harry Kane. The English international is a target for Manchester City.

It appears the Argentine prodigy is as an ideal alternative for Danny Ings. With the club intent on signing a younger option who can eventually replace the ageing Englishman in the future. This summer, Villa welcome the arrivals of Emi Buendia, Danny Ings, Leon Bailey and Ashley Young. They all look set to play an important role as Villa fight for a top 10 finish.

Both teams have international teammates of Alvarez’s in their respective squads. Something which could prove decisive when the player makes a decision regarding his future. But Villa are seemingly ahead of Spurs in the race thanks to Villas goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
