It confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United this week. Tottenham paid £40million to Leeds to complete the signing.
Archie Gray is young midfielder who has a great potential and talent. He has a great potential that makes him compared to the current world’s best midfielder Jude Bellingham and can become a generational talent. These words from the Leed United management staff.
Last season the 18 year old was named as the young player of the year in the Championship and this put the player in the market and was recognized by all the big European clubs. This is how Tottenham got to know about the player and when they did their survey they found that player is very talented and they can use a player like this in their team.
Tottenham is happy to have Archie Gray in their team
Tottenham had agreed a transfer deal with Leeds United, the Spurs will pay around £25million along with Joe Rodon who has included as the swap deal and all of this makes a total amount of around £40million. The reason that Spurs are able to get a player like this at cheap price is because of the clause that was there in the player’s contract which says that the release clause of the player will reduced to £40million if the club fails to earn a position for the Premier League.
The young midfielder played around 52 matches for the club, week in, week out the whole season in his boyhood club. There are some questions that asked from the Leeds united Live’s reporter Beren Cross and he some answers.
The reporter disappointed and sad as a young talented player will the leave the and a player which club like Leeds need. Gray had become an important player for the club and the fans also liked the player, he was becoming the fans favourite, he was the best Leeds product the fans have ever seen. No one is happy with this transfer as everybody wanted Grey to stay at the club.
Archie Gray is a generational player
The bottom line is that all the attributes we describe, it set against the context that he is just only 18 years old. It is that no one can believe that how much calm, composed and intelligent he is with just a little senior team experience, he understands the game and react according to that, he also helps to maintain the team together.
Of course he is not flawless, he is just a human and there are some games where he has struggled a lot, but those matches were very rare and most of those matches he was seen playing at his weaker position playing as a right back against some tricky and speedy wingers. He played five matches as the right back and all those matches he had delivered his worst performance.
The bad games does not affect his confidence as he is a fighter, he does not shirk challenges. Despite his age as he young still he not cowed by anyone, when a boot needs putting in, he will put in. His ball retention quality is very good, he rarely gave the ball away and even finds his ways out from the tight spots.
There are lot of things that he can do but some of them are like threading a pass over to a teammate from long distance and short distance as well. He can also score some goals and also provide some assists and his one touch passing ability is great, he can pass a ball from defence to attack in just one pass which is great. This year he played most of the games as a right back, some of his games were poor but overall he was great, specially when he was playing out of his position.
