Tottenham Hotspur transfer deadline day incomings and outgoings

Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspurs had one of the craziest of the deadline day of the January transfer window.

Reports suggested that Antonio Conte was not happy with the Spurs board as they had failed to land any of his transfer targets. Spanish winger Adama Traoré was linked with Spurs over the January transfer window. But Barcelona landed the winger on loan.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer head Fabio Paratici and Chairperson of Tottenham Daniel Levy left all the business until the deadline day of the window making it one of the most exciting deadline day for Tottenham.

Incomings

Spurs confirmed the signing of Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur. Reports suggested that Antonio Conte wanted to add reinforcements in the middle of the park. Spurs signed Uraguian midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur on a permanent deal for a reported fee that could rise to €25 million.

While winger Dejan Kulusevski joins Tottenham on an initial one and a half loan. But the deal also includes an obligation to buy if certain clauses are met for a fee close to €35 million. The deal also includes a buy option even if the clauses are not met for €35 million.

Spurs also tried to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé on loan in the final hours of the transfer window. But the deal could not be agreed upon with the club or the player.

Outgoings

Spurs were not only busy on the buying front but a lot of players also secured moves away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on deadline day. English attacking midfielder Dele Alli joined Everton on a permanent transfer. The deal is initially a free transfer but Spurs will get €12 million after 20 games. The transfer fee could rise up to €35/40 million based on individual and team performances.

Midfield duo Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso both joined Tottenham in the summer of 2019. But both the players have failed to live up to expectations and left the club on loan on the transfer deadline day. Tanguy Ndombele joined his previous club Lyon on loan until the end of the season. The deal also includes an option to make the deal permanent for €65 million.

While Giovani Lo Celso joined Spanish club Villarreal on loan until the end of the season. Reports suggest that Villarreal manager Unai Emery was keen to sign the midfielder on loan.

Ajax swooped in for winger Steve Bergwijn in the last few hours of the deadline day. But the move was rejected by the club and the winger stays at the club at least until the end of the season.
