Two injury time goals secure all the three points for Arsenal against Leicester City

After drawing with defending champions Manchester City, a win was a must for Arsenal. However, it was difficult as it seemed that the Gunners were about to settle for another draw with Leicester City, before two late goals helped them secure all three points. In the pre-match analysis, Arsenal appeared as the clear favorites to win the match. However, when it comes to the context of the Premier League football, you never know what will happen.

The Gunners were on the verge of beating Manchester City at Etihad last week, for the first time since 2015. Arsenal haven’t won a single Premier League match since 2015 at the Etihad against City.

Arsenal were about to break the long winless run win a 2-1 win over City. However, John Stones’ equalizer at the very last moment of the final extra time to made it 2-2. While the long extra-time snatched two points from Arsenal against City, that extra time now helpless them secure all three points against Leicester City.

Two injury-time goals helped Arsenal get pass Leicester

Arsenal started the game brilliantly as Martinelli scored the opening goal in the 20th minute and Leandro Trossard doubled up the lead at the end of the first half. The Gunners went in to the interval with a 2-0 lead over the 2015 champions, Leicester City. The 2-0 lead was looking healthy. It was expected that the Gunners would easily wrap up the match in the second half.

However, things started to change in the second half after the 28-year-old Leicester City right-back, James Justin, scored a brace in the second half. Two minutes after the start of the second half, Justin scored the first goal for Leicester City. And in the 67th minute, he scored the equalizer. Suddenly Arsenal’s two-goal lead completely vanished. The Gunners have already dropped points twice this season, as a result of their two draws with Brighton and Manchester City. It seemed like the Gunners were about to share points once again.

However, the context of the game changed dramatically in the stoppage time. At first, Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, scored an unfortunate own goal that gave Arsenal their lead back. Just minutes after that, Kai scored the final goal of the match to make it 4-2 for the Gunners. In the end, Arsenal managed to earn all three points.

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, breathed a sigh of relief as his team earned all three points. He and his men have lost the last two Premier League titles to Manchester City back-to-back in two seasons. They would want to try score as many as possible this season in order to beat City for the title. So, after dropping points against Manchester City, these three points are very important for the Gunners.
