Two of Arsenal’s star midfielders aren’t available for their game against Tottenham

Despite starting the new Premier League season with back-to-back wins in their opening two matchdays, Arsenal dropped points in the third matchday, when they went head-to-head with Brighton. Before the match, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton were the only teams who maintained 100% winning form in this premier League. However, the Gunners dropped points at home after drawing with Brighton. Now, Arsenal will travel to north London for the clash against arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, after the international break.

Arsenal broke the deadlock in the first half game against Brighton, courtesy of Kai Havertz. Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, out-muscled Brighton defender, Lewis Dunk, and passed it to Kai Havertz, who made made no mistake in putting the ball into the back of the net. Saka has scored once and assisted three times in just three matches in this season. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz scored his second goal in his last three matches for the Gunners. It has been a good start for both Havertz and Saka.

Declan Rice and Mikel Merino are out from the Arsenal squad for the Tottenham clash

Brighton’s match was a difficult one for the Gunners due to the controversial moment that occurred during the game. Arsenal lost their star midfielder, Declan Rice, just after the start of the second half, who left the pitch after he was shown a red card. Arsenal will now face Tottenham in the Premier League, once the league resumes after the international break.

Arsenal will go head-to-head with Tottenham Hotspur without two of their star midfielders. Declan Rice is out after the English international was shown a red card in the last match. This is the first time, Declan Rice was shown a red card in his entire career till now. Apart from Rice, newly signed Spanish midfielder, Mikel Merino is also out from the squad due to injuries. So, Mikel Arteta has to resolve the midfield zone for the Spurs match.

Tottenham Hotspur lost one, won one, and drew one in the last three Premier League fixtures, while on the other side Arsenal are still unbeaten in this Premier League. Arsenal are in the 4th position and Tottenham Hotspur are in the 10th position. However, the Gunners will travel to north London for their clash with Spurs, so that means it will be an advantage for the Spurs.

However, the previous outcome of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur matches have been in the favor of the Gunners. The last time Spurs beat Arsenal was back in May 2022, when they beat the Gunners by 3-0 at home. Since then, these two have met four times and Arsenal have won three times, drawing once. So, the past records will give some relief to the Gunners and Mikel Arteta.
