Chelsea and Villarreal went head to head for the ultimate European dominance. Kepa Arrizabalaga was the star man in the game as he saved two penalties.

Chelsea started the game strongly and eventually, they were able to find the back of the net. Hakim Ziyech scored the game’s opener in the 26th minute through a Kai Havertz assist. Further, as the game progressed the goalscorer Ziyech was injured and he was replaced by Christian Pulisic.

Over the course of time, Villarreal scored a beautiful tiki-taka equalizer. In the 75th minute when Gerard Moreno blasted past Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy after a clever back-heel assist from Boulaye Dia.

Both the teams pushed for a winner but they weren’t able to score. Asenjo turned away a Mason Mount effort in extra time. The game went on to extra time and still didn’t find the game of the net eventually the fate of the game was to be decided by penalties.

During the extra time, Thomas Tuchel decided to bring on Kepa Arrizabalaga. Havertz saw the first kick saved by Asenjo. Kepa wasn’t able to keep out Gerard Moreno’s kick. Cesar Azpilicueta, Alonso, and Mount all converted from the spot. Meanwhile, five penalties weren’t enough to separate the two sides.  Antonio Rudiger scored the seventh penalty further Raul Albiol saw his penalty saved by Kepa. The Blues won the Super Cup for the second time.
