Manchester United boss, Erik Ten Hag, is currently under immense pressure. The Dutchman might leave the Red Devils at any time if the situation does not change in the upcoming matches for United. United are currently facing too many problems not only in the Premier League but also in other competitions. So, the scenario will not change fast, it will be very difficult for the club to keep Erik Ten Hag as the manager of Manchester United.
Manchester United Draw with Porto in the Europa League
United just survived a potential loss against Porto in the UEFA Europa League this week. United took a 2-goal lead in the match thanks to the goals of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund. However, that lead vanished within the first half after Porto scored two goals in quick succession. And just after the start of the second half, Porto took the lead in the match for the first time. Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United were on the verge of another loss. However, United defender Harry Maguire might have saved Erik Ten Hag’s career as he scored the third goal for United. So, the match ends in a 3-3 draw. Ten Hag somehow bowed down, which could have been another loss.
Erik Ten Hag recently expressed his thoughts on the current scenario of Manchester United. According to the news published by BBC, The Dutchman said to TNT Sports,
“We will get there. Don’t judge us in this moment, judge us at the end of the season. We are in the process, we will improve. We have had two seasons where we have reached finals, we will continue and fight.”
Will Manchester United sack Erik Ten Hag?
Manchester United started the season with a loss to arch-rivals Manchester City in the community shield final and handed over the trophy to the citizens. Since then it was a bad season for the Red Devils till now. Manchester United lost 3 of the first six matches in the Premier League, conceded eight goals in those six matches, and only scored five times. If we look at the overall performance Erik Ten Hag led Manchester United only managed to win three matches out of 10 matches across all competitions this season so far including that Community Shield final.
United finished 8th in the last Premier League, the worst position ever in the history of the club. At the end of the season, the board of Manchester United decided to terminate Erik Ten Hag’s contract and look for a new manager. However, things changed after the Dutch manager won the FA Cup last season after beating Manchester United in the final. That win keeps Erik Ten Hag at United. But this season, again the same problem as Manchester United struggled to win matches in almost every competition.
Manchester United spent a huge amount of money in the summer transfer window to bring some of the talents of world football. But the problems are not solved yet as Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United still struggling to find the rhythm on the pitch. Ten Hag has to come out with solutions to the problems and ultimately has to produce positive results in the upcoming matches. Otherwise, the departure time is not so far for Erik Ten Hag.
Aston Villa will welcome United at Villa Park this weekend
Another big fixture is waiting for Manchester United in the Premier League this week, as Erik Ten Hag will face Aston Villa at Villa Park. Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last seven matches across all competitions. Most recently Aston Villa beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week at Villa Park. So, it will once again be a challenging match for both Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United. But the good news for all the Manchester United fans because Aston Villa has been winless in the last four meetings against United.
