According to Daily Star, United are extremely confident in bringing Brendan Rodgers to Old Trafford. While it is believed that Rodgers has a clause in his contract that says he is allowed to leave the club if a Champions League club approaches him.

Manchester United are desperate for a change to get back to winning ways. Their squad is full of young, talented, and experienced players, all they need is a man with vision and purpose who can lift this squad. While the Red Devils are struggling to meet their expectations after completing three world-class signings in the summer.

In addition to that, according to recent reports, Brendan Rodgers has reached a verbal agreement with United. While it is tough for any manager to say no to a job like this. The Northern Irish football manager has revived his career at Leicester City and has gained massive respect. However, there might be some Liverpool fans who wouldn’t be happy with his appointment at Manchester United. He was asked if he would ever take a job at United when he was sacked by Liverpool in 2015 to which he replied,

“When you manage Liverpool, you know the Manchester United job is gone.”

Why Brendan Rodgers can succeed at United?

Currently, many believe that United plays with no tactical plan and have also criticized Solskjaer for the same. They are also criticized for their underperforming defence and lacklustre attack. While the lack of a defensive midfielder has haunted them for many years now. Brendan Rodgers has proved that he has a proper system built by his work at Leicester City. Moreover, he almost led Liverpool to their first title in almost 25 years. While the Reds scored 101 goals in the 2013-14 season which was the club’s highest since 1895-96.

United does have a squad that can challenge for titles but there seem to be problems over the tactics and managerial instructions. But with Rodgers as their manager, he will put in a system that can work well for the squad and get the best out of those players. His system at Leicester is seen as a hybrid of Liverpool and Manchester City which is pretty good.

United have no plans to replace their manager before the Watford game. However, they must quickly make a change as there is frustration growing around Old Trafford. There are a few other managers who can replace Solskjaer but currently, Brendan Rodgers seems to be the frontrunner and is understood to be more tactically adept than Ole. A decision in the coming weeks is very important for the club to save their season from drowning.
