Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that Marcus Rashford could make his return from a shoulder operation in the Premier League clash with Leicester City on October 16.
Rashford underwent surgery on a long-standing shoulder issue over the summer. He has not yet been involved for the Reds this campaign.
The forward has recently been pictured in training. There have been claims that the England international would be available for selection before the international break.
Rashford – A key player for Man United
United will look to get Rashford back in the fold as soon as possible as he has long been a key performer. However, the United manager has said that the club will not rush Marcus Rashford back into action after his recent layoff.
Solskjaer spoke on Rashford ahead of the team’s Carabao Cup clash with West Ham United on Wednesday. He made it clear that Rashford’s recovery, along with that of left-back Alex Telles, will not be hurried, as per the club’s official website.
“Yeah it’s going well”, he said when asked about the images of the two players back at Carrington. “They’ve worked really hard, both of them. Alex is a bit further on than Marcus. I don’t think we’ll see Marcus until after the international break but Alex has worked well and will be in the squad as well.”
The recent acquisitions of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo have bolstered United’s attacking options. This will allow Rashford to take his time with recovery.
Additionally, Mason Greenwood has emerged as one of the most gifted young forwards in the Premier League. Jesse Lingard is off to a good start as well following his return from a loan spell at West Ham last season.
Rashford can undergo a stress-free rehabilitation from his surgery. The focus will seemingly be on getting him back in contention for the trip to Leicester City.
