‘Very raw ‘: Michael Owen says Liverpool already have a replacement for Mo Salah in the team

Former Liverpool icon Michael Owen claims that one player can be a replacement for Mo Salah. Michael was pointing towards Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez as the Egyptian’s time at the club may end soon. The 31-year old was subjected to interest from Saudi clubs but stayed with Reds this season. Not only just stayed but also in a fine form carrying the club forward. Owing to efforts from the team, Liverpool apparently on the top of the table.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League could resume their interest in the 31-year-old, who has 18 goals and nine assists so far this term across all competitions at the end of the current campaign. This may prompt Jurgen Klopp and Co. into searching for a replacement for their No. 11. However, former Ballon D’or winner suggests that Darwin is already a replacement for the former Chelsea man.

Nunez is a player that has divided opinion. I think he’s very raw in some of his play, but I also think he’s exceptional in some of his play. When you think of Liverpool for the future, it’s obviously not going to be with Salah forever so somebody’s going to have to step up, or they’re going to have to replace him with someone that’s going to try and replace his goals.

He’s so strong, he’s so direct, he’s so quick and he’s got so much ability. If he can just brush up in certain areas, he could be the real deal.”

It is not sure whether he will be able to supply the goals consistently like the Egyptian but it is certain that he got the qualities. There is a lot of work still to do though for ex-Benfica forward in his game with finishing. The fans will wait for him to unleash his best on the field for years to come.
