Chelsea were awaiting the arrival of Victor Osimhen in the January window. However, Galatasaray is gonna be his present squad for now. He has chosen to stay for the Turkish giants.
VICTOR OSIMHEN’S TURKISH JOURNEY
This Nigerian star has already been in talks since his performance in Napoli attracted the entire Europe. In the 2022/23 season, he became the highest goal-scorer in Serie A, scoring 47 goals, overtaking George Weah’s record. He was one of the reasons Napoli became Serie A champions in almost 33 years.
In the present season, he was loaned out by Napoli, and Chelsea, PSG, and Al-Ahli were linked with him. Firstly, the Saudi club failed to get him for a perfect price. Secondly, the Chelsea move heavily fell off as he could not agree to deal with it. Finally, the Turkish club Galatasaray opened up about taking Osimhen on loan until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Victor Osimhen scored his first braces for the club on the 28th September. This resulted in a 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa. He already has scored six goals in eight games. An indeed impressive start to the campaign for Galatasaray. It is understood that Osimhen filled in a break clause as part of his agreement with the Turkish giants. This would allow him to join top European clubs. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool were there, and the Blues were ahead of the race.
After an impressive season going on with Galatasaray, Osimhen stated that he intends to see out. Being top in the Turkish league and third in the Europa League after the victory against Spurs.
OSIMHEN TO STAY?
It is clear from the fact that Osimhen will stay at Galatasaray. He says that the Turkish environment is suiting him. The fans, the team everything seems to be working out pretty well for Victor.
He also added that he is happy to stay here. Since his arrival in Turkey, he saw how much of a big family the club is. There is still much speculation about him staying or leaving in January.
Osimhen also revealed that he could be open to a permanent spot in Turkey. He is supposedly enjoying himself in Istanbul. Galatasaray and Napoli might be negotiating but it would be grateful for Osimhen if it is regarding the Turkish club.
Osimhen has stated that currently he has his objective set. He wants to go further into the Europa competition and also try to win it. Galatasaray presently has a good stable squad. It is fair to see that a Nigerian player is choosing passion over money. However, the reports suggested that Enzo Maresca’s side is looking to renegotiate with the Nigerian over the January move. But, Osimhen has out all those rumours to bed.
After rejecting Chelsea, it is safe to say that the Nigerian is comfortable in Turkey. He is now fully focused for the rest of the season. Galatasaray is for now rest assured of having him. Chelsea might have to divert themselves away from him. The Blues have to keep focus on Nicholas Jackson. Chelsea might not be in desperate need of a striker as they have plenty of them.
Additional options like Nkunku, Joao Felix, and Marc Guiu are there for support. Still, a prolific striker like Victor Osimhen could have been a great addition to Chelsea’s attack options.
Finally, the Europa League might look promising for Victor and Galatasaray. Still, they have to wait for January for revival. It depends on time whether Victor will consider entering a European team.
