There is a new twist to the Victor Osimhen transfer saga. Fabrizio Romano reports Napoli are close to reaching an agreement with Al Ahli for a €65m transfer. He is set to become one of the highest paid players in the Saudi Pro league. Former Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has also moved to the middle-east this season.
Chelsea have held talks with Napoli for Victor Osimhen over the last few months along with Romelu Lukaku joining the Italian club in a separate deal. Club officials have admitted they are “working” on facilitating his exit this summer. Arsenal and PSG are also in the race for the Nigerian striker.
However, Osimhen has not given his green light to this move yet. A move to Saudi is not in the 25-year old player’s plans. He is keen on joining a top club in Europe preferably Chelsea or Arsenal. The player finished 8th in the Balon d’or last year, he dreams of winning it at least once in his career. He feels that it would only be possible if he stays in Europe.
Osimhen’s agent has urged the player to stay in Europe. He says;
“As I said, it is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d’Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There is need for respect and balance.”
Chelsea to make one last ditch attempt to sign Osimhen
Chelsea have boosted their efforts to sign Vitor Osimhen from Napoli this summer. Time is running out for the Blues to do any final business before the window closing again until January. The West London side are the busiest club right now, as they look to offload certain players and they also want to sign a few players as per Enzo Maresca’s request.
As per reports, Behdad Eghbali is now directly involved with this deal and is working on securing a deal for the Nigerian. He secured the highly complicated deal of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica last summer. He is set to pack his bags yet again and visit Naples to complete the transfer within this week.
The Blues will make one last ditch effort to convince Napoli. The Italians are demanding a mammoth transfer fee for the 25-year old. Personal terms with the player will not be a problem, Eghbali will try to make an offer that the Italians won’t refuse.
Chelsea have already spent around £200m this summer and are one signing shy from making it reach £300m. Talks have intensified between the clubs and they are hoping to make a breakthrough within next 72 hours. It is now or never for the West London club.
The Blues have an alternative for Victor Osimhen
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has emerged as a late transfer target for Chelsea. The Blues are in talks to sign Osimhen but there has been no breakthrough yet. With only two days remaining before deadline, the Blues are desperate to provide Enzo Maresca a new striker to bolster their attack. Therefore, Chelsea have made a move to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford who has one year left on his contract.
Brentford have decided to sell Toney this year to avoid losing him for free next summer. The 28-year old was left out of Brentford’s first two Premier League games against Crystal Palace and Liverpool. The Englishman has also attracted clubs from the Middle-east. Al Ahli are interested in signing Ivan Toney and have sent a bid of £35m to the Bees.
Chelsea are considering signing Toney because of his Premier league experience. He is a proven goal scorer, with relatively low wages and just one year left on his contract. The 28-year old is also linked with London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Englishman would love to join the Blues but if they leave it late, he will agree on personal terms with Al Ahli. They are offering him massive wages and a three year contract. However, Chelsea remain confident regarding both Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney deals.
