Victor Osimhen has become one of the most talked about footballer in the Premier league. However, he doesn’t even play for any Premier league club. Last transfer window, he was linked to Chelsea and Arsenal. It turned out to be a massive transfer saga. Sadly, for both parties, a deal never took place. Man United have also entered the race for Osimhen.
The Red Devils aim to sign a striker. It is likely that Rashford is set to leave. Osimhen could become a perfect replacement for the 27-year-old. The club is assessing it’s options to lure the Nigerian to Old Trafford.
Man United in “concrete talks” for Osimhen
As per top football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United are in “concrete talks” with Napoli. They want to sign the forward in January. Other suitors for Osimhen are mostly quiet as they will need to pay the release clause. However, this is the best way for United.
In summer, clubs like PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal might also make a pursuit for Osimhen. This will increase the competition for Man United by a huge margin. The 25-year old has previously expressed that he dreams to play in the Premier league. He has always been a boyhood Chelsea fan.
His salary is something that is making clubs rethink their decision of pursuing him. If Man United go for Osimhen in January, they’ll need to agree to a salary of โฌ11m per season. The Nigerian has a mid-season break clause at Galatasaray. This is the reason, United are heavily interested.
Osimhen is back to his original best at the Turkish club. His performances haven’t gone down a bit. He has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in just 15 appearances. His contract at Napoli ends in 2026. Both the club and the player want to initiate an exit before the contract runs down.
Join Man United or wait for Chelsea? Huge dilemma
This situation is a very tricky one for Osimhen. The 25-year old was very close to joining Chelsea last summer. Former Blues’ Obi Mikel urged him to join the west London club at any cost. However, it failed to materialize. It is felt that Osimhen also wanted to join Chelsea.
However, if Man United come knocking at the door, one answers the call. Such is the legacy of the Red Devils. Even if they’re not in their best situation, the pull they hold is massive. Osimhen has clear two options now- join United or wait for Chelsea.
But is it worth it to wait for the Blues to make a move? The west London side has done pretty well so far with Nicolas Jackson as their striker. He has performed exceptionally well for the Blues’. Therefore, there’s no guarantee that they will make another move for Osimhen next summer.
Man United on the other hand are very unsettled. Osimhen can find himself in a confusing position right at the beginning of his Premier league career. But if he lets this opportunity to, will he receive yet another offer from Premier league again? That’s the biggest dilemma.

I think that Man United should make a move for Osimhen if they require a striker. In summer, there are high chances there will be a huge contest for the Nigerian international. In this January transfer window, the competition is way less.
Osimhen maybe should wait a bit more. I’m confident that he’ll get better offers in the summer transfer window. His stellar performances at Galatasaray will surely find him a big club. The transfer saga is set to become even more spicier.
