Viktor Gyokeres price tag soaring as many biggies eye for a move

The Scandinavian Viktor Gyokeres has been scoring goals for fun in Sporting CP colors as many European giants eye for a move.

Yesterday night we saw the clash of the robots, the best number 9s in the world in Gyokeres and Haaland. The Man City striker has already put his name as the best striker in the world for some years now. While Gyokeres has just entered the scene and is yet to show his trade in the top 5 European leagues. Anyway by the form he is putting forward this season it is sure that someone will snap him up in the summer. Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and more can join the race as the season approaches its conclusion.

VIKTOR GYOKERES THE MAN ON FIRE

Gyokeres is not the same player that Brighton and Hove Albion sold to Coventry City for 1 million euros in 2021. He has transformed himself into one of the most feared strikers in Europe right now. His journey hasn’t been so easy till now. Shifting from positions from season to season and club to club. After several unsuccessful loan deals Brighton were forced to sell their recruit from Sweden. Anyway it was not the best start for him at the Championship side Coventry but during his second season he hit the ground running. It was Coventry manager Mark Robins who gave the swede the striker role. But he wasn’t an out and out striker he scored goals, assisted a few made chances for his teammates. He scored 43 goals and 17 assists during his time with the Championship side.

However in the summer of 2023 out after his exploits with Coventry City helped them reach the play offs final, Sporting CP from Portugal paid a club record 20 million pounds for the Swedish striker. Some eyebrows were raised. The move actually paid off and Gyokeres flourished under Ruben Amorim. In his debut season he just hit the ground running by scoring 43 goals and assisting 15 times in 50 matches. This season again he reached half the goal tally (23 goals) from just 17 games.

In the recent encounter with Manchester City he scored a hat-trick while his opposite number Erling Haaland stumbled with missed chances and a missed penalty. However he is yet to prove himself in the top leagues, but he will have his opportunity soon. As a number of European giants have set their sights on the number nine.

PLAYING STYLE AND INTEREST FROM BIGGIES

Gyokeres plays centrally but often drifts wide and makes chances for his teammates. He has the pace, physique and brilliant off the ball running to get himself into goal scoring chances. He is not just the fox in the box who just arrives in the box and taps in goals instead holds the ball and helps in build up at times. A perfect modern day centre forward. He can also score from set pieces. What can he not do? Yes There is one thing, he is not for his aerial ability even though he is 1.8 m tall. But he compensates it with his clinical finish and off the ball running. Anyway it is those abilities that the top clubs in Europe keep an eye on. He can join any team in Europe and play well if it’s a three at the back formation, or inverted full backs or false nine any team can have him.

That is why he is top on the list of clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, FC Barcelona and we don’t know how many will join that list as the season progresses. Arsenal were linked with a move last summer but the release clause value of 86 million pounds discouraged them. Anyway they might regret that decision now as the price would definitely sky rocket next summer. As Alan Shearer said he has added another 40 million to his already huge price tag after the hat-trick performance.

Since Ruben Amorim joined Man Utd it is also possible that Viktor Gyokeres chooses to join his former coach in Manchester. Anyway Amorim himself has confirmed that the Swedish striker won’t join his new side in January as per GOAL.com. There are also reports that Barcelona sporting director Deco has an agreement with Sporting for the transfer of Swedish striker.
