Virat Kohli took a leave from competitive cricket. It was in the 2022 Asia Cup he returned to the Indian camp. He took rest in both the tours of West Indies and Zimbabwe. The ex Indian captain however was busy relaxing and diverting his mind from cricket.

In 2022, however, Kohli has been going through real struggles for runs. The break however, should have helped him to played that vital innings of 35 against Pakistan on Sunday. He moreover scored another marvellous innings of unbeaten knock of 59 against Hong Kong.

Ahead of the tournament, Virat Kohli opened up on his mental health in an interview to Star Sports. Recently, Ricky Ponting, the former Aussie skipper and legendary batter has expressed his view on this. His wishes to see Kohli back in form, getting runs ,in the coming T-20 WC.

Hope to see Kohli back at his best: Ponting

On the ICC Review, Ponting said,

“When I saw his runs and then I’ve read on social media over the last few days, it sounded like he found himself in quite a dark place. Like a lot of us men, he wasn’t willing to talk about it and share it.

“It sounds like when he has started to share, started to talk, it might have just freed him up a bit and he started to feel better about himself again.

“I just hope that we see him back at his best and in the World Cup. I’d rather see Virat come out here (in Australia) and be one of the leading players in the tournament, but just make sure he doesn’t score many runs against Australia when they play!”

Kohli looked flawless against Hong Kong. Moreover, he played some of his trademark shots to score is 32nd T-20 international half-century.

He however smashed three sixes. However Virat Kohli rotating the strike is a blessing to watch. However, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s innings that gave Kohli a great company.
