On Sunday, after India won the T20I series against England, they returned to London from Nottingham.

Meanwhile, former India skipper Virat Kohli has sustained a groin injury.

The BCCI sources stated that it is not a serious injury and the final decision on Kohli participating in the first ODI will be taken on Tuesday morning.

But, it turned out that Kohli did require a break from the 1st ODI and has thus not taken part in this ODI.

India are to play 3 ODIs against England. The second and third ODIs are at Lord’s and Old Trafford on the 14th and 17th of July.

Recently, Kohli has been in a lean patch as regards batting and hasn’t been able to score runs.

Yesterday the BCCI kept an optional training session for Indian players at The Oval.

Only a few players like Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan and Mohammed Siraj turned up for the practice session yesterday.

After this tour, India will be going to the West Indies to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.

BCCI will be declaring the T20I team for the West Indies in a day or two.

For the ODIs, many of the senior players will be rested and will then return for the T20Is.
