India all-rounder Washington Sundar is all set to make his debut for Lancashire in county cricket.

He will become the second player after Cheteshwar Pujara to play county cricket.

Washington will be playing 3 County Championship Games along with the Royal London Cup.

Previously, Shreyas Iyer too had enrolled himself in the Lancashire unit to play county cricket but he had to pull out due to a shoulder injury.

Washington’s journey has not been good since last year.

He either sustained injuries or fell sick which caused him to remain out of the Indian team set-up.

Washington is super excited to play for Lancashire and wants to play at Emirates Old Trafford.

Mark Chilton, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Performance also welcomed Washington into their fold.

He further said that Washington will be an inspiration to the younger bowlers.

Sundar is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru where he is undergoing rehab for a hand injury.

In this year’s IPL, Sundar was hit twice on his webbing and had to sit out many games for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sundar will be joining his Lancashire teammates by next month.

He will also miss out on the Tamil Nadu Premier League where he is a part of Salem Spartans.

Previously, former India head coach, Ravi Shastri also commented that Washington Sundar will become India’s premier all-rounder in all three formats of the game.

He further added that all Washington needs to do is to improve upon his game and that it is not difficult for him to do that.
