Watford vs Manchester United: Match preview, team news and predicted line-ups

Watford Manchester United, Six Sports

Manchester United travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford on 20th November. United will look forward to improving their horrific form this season. They had some time off because of the international break and a win at Watford can give them momentum for their tough fixture list later. The Red Devils currently sit 6th on the table and that is not the position they want to be in.

Watford are currently 17th on the league table, just 2 points off the relegation zone. The Hornets will want to perform better than they did against Arsenal before the international break. With an out-of-form United, they should believe that they can snatch 3 points from the Red Devils.

Watford vs Manchester United: Match Preview

Watford has lost 12 of their 14 Premier League games winning just 2 against Manchester United, no side has lost more. The Hornets have failed to score in 7 Premier League games this season. However, in the other 4 games, they have scored at least 3 goals on 3 occasions.

They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 21 Premier League games. This is their longest run without a clean sheet in the top division. Considering Manchester United’s form, Watford will have to be patient for their break in their game as United also does not have a good defensive record this season.

Watford does have the threat to hurt teams on the counter. United’s high defensive line can play into the hands of Watford. Although it will not be as easy as it sounds since United are also hungry for a victory.

Manchester United

Manchester United have defeated Watford on 18 of their 26 meeting of their top-flight history with a win ratio of 69%. They only have a better win ratio against Luton Town of the teams they have faced at least 20 times and that is 73%. United have not won against three newly-promoted sides, drawing against West Brom, Leeds, and as well as Fulham last season. They have never gone winless four matches in a row against newly-promoted sides since September 1997.

United will want to dominate this game and win it comfortably. The Red Devils have struggled for form very much this season. They have also looked lacklustre and not very intense. They will want to win this game to build momentum before facing a tough fixture list. However, they will have to be careful because they don’t have a good defensive record this season and Watford can punish them on the counter.

Watford have lost 4 of their last 6 matches drawing 1 and managed to win just 1. On the other hand, Manchester United have the same form as Watford losing 4, drawing 1 and winning just 1 of their last 6 matches.
