West Ham have confirmed the signing of Lucas Paqueta from Olympique Lyon. Despite big claims from Lyon’s President, no Premier League side tried to hijack the deal.

Paqueta is now the record signing of the Hammers. He will bring the much-needed quality in the attacking department for the club.

WEST HAM AND LUCAS PAQUETA TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to the official statement, West Ham have confirmed the signing of Lucas Pqueta from Olympique Lyon. They have reportedly sealed the transfer for a whopping €60m. The Hammers had to struggle to agree on a fee with Ligue 1 side. However, the big transfer offer was finally enough to convince them to sell the playmaker.

The player then traveled to London to complete his medical. Personal terms between West Ham and Paqueta were already agreed. Hence, they were able to wrap the deal quickly . LYON PRESIDENT BIG CLAIMS REFUTED BY LOCAL SOURCES

There were also claims that a club was trying to hijack the deal from the Hammers. The claims were made by Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas. He also claimed that the club was from the Premier League. However, the president refused to name the club. Although, the claims were quickly refuted by local news and local sources of the club.

Many also claimed that the president was trying to get more money out of West Ham. The claim of hijacking the deal was also refuted by reputable journalist Freddie Paxton. Freddie Paxton also added the claims of the Lyon President were wide of the mark. In the end, Paxton’s claims turned out to be true. No club from any league tried to hijack the deal.

Lucas Paqueta has played 33 games for Brazil. He has scored 7 goals in these appearances. The player has also played more than 100 games for AC Milan before moving to Lyon. Hence, West Ham have a brilliant player that knows how to handle high pressure.
