Amadou Onana has received interest from a number of Premier League clubs for his services. Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be interested in the midfielder. However, Lille are considering a serious offer from West Ham.
David Moyes is apparently a fan, and wants Onana in his squad. Sky Sports report that the East Londoners have submitted an improved offer for the Belgian. The Scottish tactician wants to quickly wrap the signings of Onana and Armando Broja. The most recent offer is reportedly approximately 32.3 million Pounds (38 million Euros) plus any add-ons that Lille are considering.
Onana only moved to Lille from Hamburg last summer, costing the Ligue 1 team only €7 million (£6 million). Les Dogues will probably make a quick and sizable profit if they cash on him.
Onana: Worth The Hype?
Last season, the 20-year-old played 42 times for Lille in all competitions, but only 15 of them were starts. Even though he played in all eight of their Champions League games, he only started two of them. He featured in central defence against Chelsea in the first round of the knockouts.
Given Onana’s potential, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle are all interested in signing him. Nottingham Forest was another interested party, but that move looks unlikely. A move to the Hammers is thought to be the most likely outcome because they are ready to offer the most money, and Onana would get the most minutes there. It looks more likely that he will sign with the Irons now that the Hammers have increased their offer to a level that Les Dogues are considering.
However, another report from 90min says that Everton have entered the fray for Onana as well. Lille feel that the Toffees can offer a similar or higher price for the Belgian, and are holding out.
Onana is a promising young player. It will be interesting to see where he ends up and how his career develops.
