West Ham are leading the race to sign Burnley player Maxwel Cornet. Maxwel Cornet is a versatile player capable of playing as a winger as well as a fullback. The Hammers are close to signing the player from Burnley this season. However, they face heavy competition from Everton and Newcastle United for the player.

Maxwel Cornet was Lyon’s starting left-back choice. His most memorable moment as a player for Lyon was his goal against Manchester City in the 2019-20 season. His goal ensured that Lyon progressed to the quarter-finals of the 2019-20 champions league final. Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon on a five-year deal for a transfer fee worth €15 million. Now, West Ham are trying to negotiate a fee for the player for a move to London. David Moyes is keen to sign a left-back this summer and Cornet is the perfect player for this job

West Ham looking for left-backs

Maxwell Cornet is an extremely versatile player. He can play as a left winger, left back, and even as a centre forward. Moreover, following the relegation of Burnley, it is expected that he will move away from the club to a Premier League club. Currently, West Ham is the most likely club where the Ivory Coast international might end up at. However, the Hammers have their sights set on Franfurt’s Filip Kostic as a priority signing this summer. With the deal for Kostic seeming unlikely now, West ham have turned their sights on Maxwell Cornet.

West Ham has had a good transfer window so far. The Hammers have signed Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, and Flynn Downes. Moreover, they have also signed Italian center-forward Gianlucca Scammaca as their marquee player this season. Now, they are working on deals to get Filip Kostic and Maxwell Cornet to the Hammer’s squad.
