West Ham are currently lurking to sign 27-year-old Chelsea left-back. The Hammers are keen to bolster their squad. Especially after a poor start to the Premier League season. They are currently on 15th place in the table. They have managed to win only 8 points in 8 games so far. The Hammers will have to turn things around soon. Else they may find themselves in the wrong half of the table. They were able to get 52 points last time. At the same time, they would finish in the top half. But as of now it seems unlikely. A move for Ben Chilwell may help them fix things to a great extent.
Manchester United linked with Ben Chilwell
The Red Devils were the first to register an interest in signing the left-back. Since Enzo Maresca took over, Ben Chilwell has not really played for the Blues. He is not in the manager’s plans. Manchester United have been on a lookout for new left-back from a long time. So, they could ruin chances of West Ham signing the Chelsea star. The Red Devils want to replace Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Sadly, both of them have proven to be injury prone.
Will West Ham sign the Chelsea star?
The Red Devils were the frontrunners. But they are now targeting Alphonso Davies on a free transfer next summer. At the same time, the Blues are open to Ben Chilwell leaving on a long-term loan. So, West Ham have a good chance of signing the Chelsea man, financially speaking. At the same time, the left-back won’t even have to leave London if he joins the Hammers. Also, as per metro, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson also backs the Hammers. So they could actually pull-off the move. But as per reports, they also face competition from Fulham and Brentford. So it will be interesting to see where the 27-year-old moves now.
