West Ham are one of the English clubs that are in limelight currently. It all started after the announcement of David Moyes leaving the club. Even though this news gave mixed feelings to all the fans. It will be interesting to see how things will go from here for the London club. David Moyes did a pretty good job with the club winning them their first silverware in recent times. Some fans criticized him of playing boring and slow football.
Now that he is gone, the club announced Julen Lopetegui as his replacement for the next season. Julen Lopetegui is no stranger in managing big clubs. He has managed big clubs like Real Madrid before in his career. The manager is known for his attacking possession based gameplay. As the situation stands Lopetegui will need new players for the squad. Thus expect West Ham to go big this summer.
Julen Lopetegui has some experience in English football with Wolves. He managed to pull off a miracle after saving the club from relegation. Everyone expected him to stay and do wonders with Wolves but he left the club unceremoniously. The reason behind him leaving was disputes between the club and the manager. The manager expected the club to make some big signings to compete in the league.
However suitable signings were not made. Wolves had to sell some of their big players like Ruben Neves, Adama Traore due to Profit and Sustainability rules of the club. The rules stated that clubs cannot sign new players before the sale of players. Thus Wolves lost a majority of their players who went after better offers. Also when the club made some signings most players could not live up to their price. These cost ineffective signings also led to manager leaving.
West Ham to go big with £100m budget
Now that Lopetegui has signed for West Ham, we can expect the club to make some new signings. Currently its not clear how the club will look through Lucas Paqueta situation. The Brazilian midfielder was charged by the FA last month with alleged breaches of their betting rules. He is accused of getting himself deliberately booked in four Premier League matches across two seasons. If he is found guilty he will be charged and maybe banned from football for his entire life.
Mohammed Kudus was another player alongside Paqueta, who showed glimpses of class. Julen Lopetegui finds him an exciting prospect and will surely love to work with him. West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten is expected to be working with Julen Lopetegui as the club wants a complete squad before pre-season. There are some signings that the club will hope to complete soon.
According to Scottish journalist Alan Nixon claims Atletico Madrid are now pushing to complete the signing of Nayef Aguerd for up to £30m. This is a great news as the club targets to increase their funds and free up more space. “Aguerd’s old club Rennes want him back and could even offer more than Atletico, but the player is more interested in a fresh challenge,”.
West Ham are also closing on a deal to reunite Lopetegui with striker Youssef En-Nesyri. The Sevilla striker is also expected to leave and will be perfect striker for the club. Jota Silva, who can provide support in the attack, is in line to join West Ham on a four-year deal for his £17m release clause. West Ham had agreed a £12.5m deal with Flamengo for the centre-back Fabricio Bruno. Although this deal is looking unlikely West Ham will surely push for the player.
