Former Manchester United attacker Wayne Rooney has Cristiano Ronaldo’s back after a stuttering start to the season for him.

Wayne Rooney believes Ronald will eventually find his old form back. He just has to stay patient. Rooney currently manages the MLS team DC United.

According to Rooney, age hinders Ronaldo to gain his form back but it will eventually come back. Erik Ten Hag currently uses Ronaldo for cameos coming off from the bench.

He said (via Manchester United evening News) :

“Cristiano… him and [Lionel] Messi are two of the greatest players to ever play the game, but ultimately time catches up with us all. He’s obviously not the player he was when he was 22 or 23, for instance. It’s a tough one for him.”

Knowing him, it’ll be very difficult for him to sit on the bench. I’m sure if he stays patient, his chance will come and, again, it’s then obviously him taking those chances and trying to force his way back in.”

After having scored 24 goals last season, Ronaldo was expected to start this season right from he left. But unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to hit his potential yet.

This season the Portuguese striker has only started in one match and has only scored one goal for Red Devils.

Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United after the FIFA World Cup

As per reports from Mirror Football, Cristiano Ronaldo will intensify his efforts to leave Old Trafford after the FIFA World cup. After being benched for most of the matches, Ronaldo is rumored to be unhappy with manager Erik Ten Hag.

The report also confirms that Bayern Munich have had contacts over the signing of the Portuguese legend this summer but the move was called off for some reason.
