Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori is out for weeks after picking up a knee injury
Arsenal signed Riccardo Calafiori in the summer transfer window from serial side Bologna. His club performance and also at the international level was something to notice before Arsenal signed him in the summer. The Gunners have spent a transfer fee of around £35 million for the 22-year-old. Till now, Calafiori has made a total of ten appearances for Arsenal this season across all competitions and scored one goal. His only goal so far into this season came in the game against the defending champion Manchester City in the Premier League.
His absence will definitely a huge blow for the Gunners as he is doing well for Mikel Arteta’s side. Riccardo Calafiori has the ability to play in different positions and often goes high up to the pitch to help the attacker. His playing ability creates more chances for his team and often leads to goals. So, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal will be looking for a speedy recovery for the 22-year-old.
However, there is no final say from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta about the return date of Riccardo Calafiori. Recently Mikel Arteta admitted that Riccardo Calafiro might take several weeks to recover from his knee injury. According to the news published by Football London, Mikel Arteta said,
“He will be out for a few weeks I would say.”
When will the Calafiori be back for the Gunners?
Arsenal just passed a big test in the Premier League after drawing with Liverpool at home. But now, the Gunners have three big matches at the start of November. The Gunners will start November with a trip to St. James Park to meet Newcastle United, followed by another trip to Italy for their Champions League match against Inter and a final trip to Stamford Bridge to meet Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea in the Premier League. So, three big fixtures are coming for the Gunners before the November international break and all of them are away games. After the international break, Arsenal will face Nottingham Forest in the first home game of November.
Riccardo Calafiori is expected to miss all these matches. The 22-year-old could join the Gunners at the end of November in the game against Nottingham Forest. Still, it is not clear when the Italian international will be back for Arsenal. But it is expected he will be back at the end of the November or at the start of December.
