Arsenal have taken a devastating hit as the injury on Ben White while in training means he’ll be missing out for quite a long period. Being one of Mikel Arteta’s reliable backlines, Ben is likely to miss several key games in this season; the Champions League campaign and all that. White’s absence makes Arsenal very thin on defensive options, and the club might have to go for some of the players in the January transfer market. Fans will hope that the Arteta squad can somehow cope with this setback as White starts his long journey to recovery.
A major setback for Ben white
A training ground injury to Ben White will see him missing for months. Ben White was a very versatile player. He was capable of playing as a centre-back or a right-back. So much of what Mikel Arteta has been doing tactically has found an important piece in the shape of that solidity at the back while also adding play from the back.
This loss puts the side in a precarious position for the Manchester City and Liverpool games still to come. While Rob Holding and Takehiro Tomiyasu might end up playing more, whether they can step up and do what White does in that position is unknown. Arsenal may have to push the plans to scout a new defender before January, and names on the list include Edmond Tapsoba and Ivan Fresneda. With this injury to White, the boss has been reminded of needing more depth in the team if he is going to win on all levels.
