Why did Cole Palmer fail to make an impact against Liverpool?

Chelsea were facing Liverpool in the game week 8 of the Premier League. Cole Palmer was unable to make any real impact on the game. Liverpool would keep the 22-year-old quite throughout the game. The Blues were dominating possession early on. But, they were failing to open the home side defense. Meanwhile, the Reds were not pressing directly but they were able to counter and make the most out of the situation. Enzo Maresca’s men were keeping their shape really well. Cole Palmer and Chelsea needed a response in the second half. Nicolas Jackson would find the back of the net and put the Blues on level terms. But just minutes after scoring, Salah’s brilliance would endanger them again. The winger whipped in a beautiful cross for Curtis Jones to latch on to. The midfielder would finish it with panache, scoring the winner of the game.

Cole Palmer ‘non-existent’?

Expectations are high for the 22-year-old. We know what he is capable of. He also had some tough chances in front of goal. But he was unable to directly influence the game in any way. Skysports would even go on to say that he was basically non-existent. Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai would hardly give him any room.
