William Saliba showered with love after International Debut

Saliba Marseille, Six Sports

William Saliba made his international debut for France against Ivory Coast on Friday. Marseille fans had showered him with affection during the match.

The clash took place at Stade Velodrome which is the home stadium of the Marseilles team. Saliba has been at Marseilles since the beginning of the season. Saliba signed for Arsenal in 2019 but has yet to make an appearance for the Gunners.

The star man has managed to impress France coach Didier Deschamps and made his international debut. This is impressive considering he hasn’t made his debut at his parent Club.

Saliba is amidst speculation about his Arsenal career. He has been rumored to leave Arsenal at the end of the season. He has also impressed his loan club and Marseilles are considering making the deal permanent.

Saliba has managed to find his way among the people of Marseilles. Every touch he took was met with cheers and applauds. This had happened a couple of days after rumors surrounding his parent club. Saliba commented on the rumors after the game.

“I’ve never hidden the fact that I feel good here. I don’t know what my future holds, there’s still two months to go. The most important thing is to qualify for the Champions League and go as far as possible in the Conference League.”

“I think discussions will take place afterwards, at the end of May to early June, between Arsenal and Marseille – we’ll decide at that point. But staying on here would definitely not be a bad idea, on the contrary, I know the city, my team-mates, my manager. But it doesn’t depend on me.”

The Frenchman’s impressive form is going to make Arteta think twice before selling him. Arsenal are most likely to make it work with Saliba as he is 21 and has a lot more to offer in the future. If things don’t go Arsenal’s way, they could still manage to gain a hefty fee from the transfer.
