With the transfer deadline around the corner, Chelsea are ready to make Gallagher’s move

With only 10 days remaining in the summer transfer window, Chelsea are trying hard to finalize the transfer of their star midfielder Conor Gallagher. The Blues have already made ten new signings in this transfer window and spent around 250m euros. While some players are coming in, others are moving away from the Bridge. At the start of this month, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher was about to leave Stamford Bridge to join Atletico Madrid. But after the collapse of Samuel Omordion’s move to Chelsea, the move of Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid was stalled. However, the move could happen now.

What happened to Gallagher’s deal?

Earlier this month, Chelsea were very close to signing young Spanish striker Samuel Omorodion from Atletico Madrid and Conor Gallagher was on his way to join the Spanish side. However, that was not a swap deal. But Omorodion refused to join the Blues at the very last moment. And that blocked the Conor Gallagher move. Atletico Madrid have already spent a whopping 80m euros for Julian Alvarez. So, the Spanish side are trying to increase the transfer budget before making any further signing.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid were trying hard to make the Conor Gallagher deal possible. So, the Blues are linked with another Atletico Madrid player, Joao Felix, after failing to sign Samuel Omorodion. Felix is also interested in joining Chelsea, as the Portuguese forward previously featured in the blue shirt back at the start of the last year, during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge. According to GOAL, the former Barcelona man made 20 appearances during his time with Chelsea across all competitions and scored four goals. Felix also said yes to all the personal terms with Chelsea and is very much interested in joining the Blues.

Will Atletico Madrid be able to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea?

As a result of this, Conor Gallagher is now on the verge of completing his move to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea. The English international already completed his medical earlier this month after Samuel Omorodion’s move went to the last stage. But after the deal collapsed, Gallagher had to return to London. Gallagher was out of the squad for Chelsea’s opening match in the Premier League against Manchester City. But it seems like Gallagher will be soon in Diego Simeone’s side in the upcoming days.

The Blues will have to pay around 60m euros for Joao Felix to complete the deal. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will pay 42m euros to Chelsea as decided earlier for Conor Gallagher. Same as Samuel Omorodion’s move, these two deals will happen separately as there is no chance of any swap deal from these two clubs. So, it is expected that Joao Felix’s move will be completed first, followed by the move of Conor Gallagher.

More Chelsea and Atletico Madrid news

It’s not a good start for both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid in their respective leagues. Chelsea were crushed at their home by the defending champions, Manchester City, in their opening match of the new Premier League season. Despite spending so much money on new signings, Enzo Maresca has still failed to give the Blues the perfect start. Chelsea will face Wolves in the second matchday in the Premier League, away from home. But before that, Enzo Maresca’s side will start their UEFA Conference League journey against Servette.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid drew their first match in the new Laliga season with Villarreal and shared the points. New signing Julian Alvarez made his Atletico Madrid debut after coming off the bench in the 80th minute. Up next, Diego Simeone’s side will meet last season’s 3rd position finish, Girona.
