Yahia Fofana: The 24-year-old goalkeeper has emerged as a potential Chelsea target after Didier Drogba’s recent recommendation. Fofana is from French Ligue 2 side Angers SCO, where he has been a player of the season contender. He kept 12 clean sheets in 31 league appearances, with a save percentage exceeding 73 percent. His quick reflexes, calmness in high-pressure situations and dominance in the air have brought him praise from coaches and analysts alike.
Fofana began his career at a youth academy at Le Havre, then moved to Angers in 2021. On the international stage, Fofana has played for the Ivory Coast senior team since 2022. The striker has scored once in six appearances so far during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Transfer Possibilities and Challenges in the Premier League

Yahia Fofana is not your everyday hyped young goalkeeper — he’s a serious talent who can do everything required of a top-team goalkeeper. A special talent. An exciting prospect for the Blues, and with multiple great performances across the league especially with Angers, he will also have that, with more exposure on the International level and the sweet public backing of Didier Drogba.
But Ligue 2 is not the Premier League. Although Fofana’s stats are impressive, the leap into English football can be brutal even for the most promising of talents. This is an operation Chelsea must take slowly and carefully. Fofana is still adjusting, and putting so much pressure on him early could end up backfiring.
Nonetheless, judging by the €15 million price tag, this could be a high-reward, low-risk deal. If Fofana works out as planned, he might address Chelsea’s keeper dilemma for the next 10 years. And when a club legend like Drogba vouches for a player, it’s often wise to pay attention.
