Alfa Romeo driver Zhou Guanyu topped the timing charts as Day 2 of testing ended in Bahrain.

For the morning session, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz topped the timing chart setting an early time of  1m 32.486s using C3 tyres. The Spanish stood at top of the timing charts unit Red bull’s Max Verstappen came out the afternoon. On his first flying lap effort, Verstappen jumped to second and after 30 minutes, the Dutchman was already at the top. The Dutchman topped the chart on Thursday’s testing.

However, Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu surpassed Verstappen’s time by mere 0.040s setting the best time of the testing so far with an incredible 1m 31.610s.

As far as Mercedes is concerned, the side has a rather troubling outing on Friday. George Russell suffered a hydraulic issue in his W14 causing a red flag. The Briton failed to return to the track as he could only rack up 26 laps finishing in P13.

Hamilton had a rather clear outing setting 72 laps with a brief stoppage due to floor damage. The repairs were quick to follow as Hamilton returned track quickly enough. Hamilton wrapped the day in P15 for Mercedes.

Red bull’s Sergio Perez also set 76 laps in the morning session coming home in P14.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc clocked 68 laps and secured eighth position while his teammate Carlos Sainz came home in P6 with 70 laps to his name.

That’s all Day 2 of testing had to offer. F1 teams will return again on Saturday for the final day of testing in Bahrain.
