Juventus pushing for a Memphis Depay move to Turin

Juventus are determined to bring Barcelona player Memphis Depay to Turin this summer. Barcelona’s signing of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Dembele has pushed Depay down the pecking order at Camp Nou. Juventus have now stepped in and are holding talks to sign the former Lyon player to join them this summer. He is the ideal alternative for Juventus’ priority summer transfer, Alvaro Morata.

However, the deal for both clubs is not going to be easy. Juventus and Barcelona can’t seem to reach an agreement regarding the nature of the transfer of Depay. Barcelona wants €20 million for the transfer of Memphis Depay. However, Juventus want a season-long loan move for the player because of the price tag of Depay. Juventus are unwilling to pay the amount as they are suffering from financial troubles of their own. Moreover, to sign a loan, Depay will have to extend his contract at Nou. This is something that Barcelona want to avoid as he is now a surplus to their requirements at Camp Nou.

However, Depay is still considering his future. He is holding out for offers from other clubs. He has had transfer offers from various Premier League clubs. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Everton have all expressed their interest in signing the player. However, according to several reports, Depay is unwilling to move back to Premier League. This is because of his horrible spell with Manchester United from 2015 to 2017.

Depay was not given a shirt number

There are desperate times ahead for Depay. In their quest to offload Depay this summer, Barcelona have not given him a shirt number this season. This means, effectively, he is without a club this season. He has to make a quick decision if he wants to get game time to play the world cup in Qatar this season. As things stand, the offer from Juventus is the most solid one at his disposal.
