England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton was the first recipient of the Women’s Yashin Trophy. She received the award on 22 September 2025 at Paris’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Yashin Trophy is awarded to the year’s top goalkeeper.

Hannah Hampton made a strong career as one of the most skilled goalkeepers of England. Her career began at Birmingham City, and soon she became famous for her rapid responses and confidence. Moving to Aston Villa went on to make a name for her, and England international caps went on to seal her robust build-up. After that she joined Chelsea.
Hampton has the traits of confident shot-stopping, astute positioning, and ball awareness control on her feet, demanded of the modern goalkeeper. She was also in her best form even during her early days, and she continues to grow as a talented and composed last hope.
Hannah Hampton This Season
Hampton’s campaign was simply wonderful. She was Chelsea‘s game-changer in the season’s domestic treble: Women’s Super League, FA Cup, and the League Cup.
At the international level, for England at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, she mattered. Hannah saved two penalties during the final penalty shootout from Spain to earn herself the Player of the Match.
Hannah delivered an impassioned speech when she was awarded.
She honored the memory of Matt Beard, a very prominent female football coach for the country, who had recently died. She spoke about how significant it was to her that this award was now available to women โ and not just men.

It was her country, club, and moment of pride. Hampton became the first in history of the sport to be a female winner of the Yashin Trophy.
Her Ballon d’Or rank was tenth, only one position behind Chelsea team-mate Lucy Bronze, ranked ninth.
