Man United are considering a move for Everton midfielder
Everton midfielder on Man United radar
It appears that Man United is prepared to bring up one of their own stories again. As per Graeme Bailey, the club is thinking about seriously bringing back James Garner. Next summer, the player will be a free agent. The Red Devils are now directing their efforts primarily towards the midfield.
As a midfielder, he has recently put in some great performances which have drawn the attention of Everton‘s coach David Moyes, who admires his talents. He is showing liveliness, composure and swapping the different midfield spots as his skill. These are the attributes that the United team has not had recently. His maturity and consistency have caught Utd’s eye once again. Now, a free transfer deal could make perfect sense.
Utd’s midfield plans take shape
The club’s recruitment team have been mapping out their long-term midfield rebuild. Brighton’s Carlos Baleba was on the radar earlier this year. But, the deal proved too expensive. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton remains another target, though his £80m valuation may force Man Utd to rethink their plans.
Bringing in Garner would prove to be financially wise and also bring back a known personality matching the club’s character. He is aware of the methods of handling the stress that Old Trafford brings. Furthermore, judging by his current performance with Everton, he probably is the one who could handle it.
Man Utd see him as a character who can mix up creativity and hard work on the defense. That is a quality that has not been in their midfield for quite a few seasons.
Author’s Opinion:
But this is not a simple move. It’s definitely a moving one, it’s a reunion. James Garner has grown into a composed, reliable player. So, his return could be one of Man Utd’s smartest calls in years.
